Anilu Chadwick is the new Co-President of the Board and is a Staff Attorney at Catholic Charities Community Services. She first became involved with First Friends as a Detention Fellow for Catholic Charities as part of the Access to Justice program.
Yarrow is the new Co-President of the Board and has been a volunteer visitor since 2008 and joined the Board in 2014. She is the mother of a 1 1/2 year old and works at the Rutgers Center for Women and Work.
Andrea Wren-Hardin is the Vice-President and a social worker currently assisting families displaced by Super Storm Sandy. She became involved with First Friends through her volunteer efforts at Morrow Church in Maplewood.
Nancy Taiani is the Board Secretary and has been team leader of St. Peter Claver Parishioners for Peace & Justice since 2002 and also coordinates monthly dinners for the homeless at that church. She is a member of the Archdiocesan Immigration Task Force.
Ken Boccino is the Board Treasurer and currently serves as Deacon at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Maplewood where his focus is pastoral care, healing ministries and exploring opportunities for parish involvement in “hands-on” outreach activities.
Sister de Montfort Kinchellagh, OP Sister de Montfort is a Dominican Sister of Caldwell, NJ. Sister de has been actively involved for many years in justice work for the Caldwell Dominicans and also in collaboration with the North East Dominican Congregations of Amityville, Blauvelt, Hope, and Sparkill.
Lorna Henkel, Former Board President, has been visiting asylum seekers and detainees since 2008. She is a member of the First Reformed Church of Secaucus, PeaceWorks, NJ Pax Christi, and NJ Peace Action.
Edafe Okporo, is a human right activist who is dedicated and committed to seeing an end to discrimination. Edafe came to the US from Nigeria seeking asylum, after he was released from detention he began volunteering with First First friends. In his free time, he loves watching documentaries, reading autobiographies, reviewing journals, and outdoor activities.
Jane Ehlers is currently pursing a degree in nursing. She has been a volunteer visitor with First Friends for many years and involved in post-release of detainees as well. She volunteers with many nonprofits and is passionate about immigration justice.
